Mansons Landing Marine Park, Cortes Island

Tuesday, July 26, 2011S.V. CAMBRIA

We left Gorge Harbour for nearby Mansons Landing this morning nearly taking out half the anchorage with us  Well, maybe not half.  But acouple of boats had anchored too close to us and, as we were pulling in our chain, the point was proven.  It's just too bad they weren't aboard as Cambria came within feet of them, not that they'd learn a lesson in Anchoring 101, but you can always hope.

Anyway.  Out through the narrow gorge which gives the harbour it's name and 2.5 nautical miles south to Mansons Landing Marine Park – an idyllic spot to drop anchor and have fun for a few days exploring the white sandy beaches, beautiful saltwater lagoon, and nearby fresh-water lake. But only in the right weather, which today wasn't.  It was a little windy and overcast (complete with rain showers in the evening) making it the perfect afternoon for a nap after several days of work, firm in the belief that there's always tomorrow.  But in the meantime, we received a phone call from our friends, Bill and Sylvia Emmens aboard Salubrious, who are in Gorge Harbour.
