The Coast Mountains.

Sally hurt her paw again while on our morning walk in Gorge Harbour yesterday when she flopped down on the ground to roll around in the grass, something that brings her endless pleasure.  Sometimes the flop can be pretty awkward, as it was yesterday morning, and she's back to limited shore trips until the limp is gone.  So with a little extra time on my hands and motivated by Sylvia's dedication to bright work aboard Salubrious, I pulled out the can of Autosol this morning and started to polish the stainless steel while David removed the fan unit from the heater in the salon to see if there was anything he could do to fix the leak.  There isn't.  A weld in the coil has given out and, because they no longer sell replacement cores for the fan unit we have, a new one will have to be bought at the cost of about CA$250.  Now all we have to do is figure out where to have it sent so he can get the heater up and running again before the weather turns cold.

After lunch, David went over to Salubrious to take another look at the charging system.  What he thought was going to be an hour trip turned into the entire afternoon.  As he suspected, the regulator is blown, which most likely occurred in the process of fixing the initial issue.  We have a spare aboard but are lacking fuse holders to protect our regulator from being fried like theirs.  So, for the time being, the work has stopped.

While the men toiled, Sylvia and I went kayaking to explore our new anchorage from Laura to Melanie Coves through the many islets, islands and lagoons.  Everywhere you turn there's a view to be appreciated -- whether it's the Coastal Range or the clear waters of the many pools formed by granite rocks, it's simply stunning.  After hours of leisurely paddling around, we reluctantly returned to our boats to put our oars away for the day feeling a little sorry for the guys who missed out on all the fun ... but there's always tomorrow!
